Structural Equation Modelling with AMOS
Structural Equation Modelling with AMOS
Theory · Practice · Reporting
One of the most powerful ways to test complex relationships and latent structures — from theoretical grounding through AMOS practice to publication-ready reporting.
Structural equation modelling (SEM) lets you test relationships between multiple dependent and independent variables simultaneously while accounting for measurement error. This course covers not only how the software is used, but why the model is specified the way it is and how the findings are defended.
Course Content
- The logic of SEM, its assumptions and when to use it
- The AMOS interface and drawing a model
- Path analysis with observed variables
- Confirmatory factor analysis (the measurement model)
- Specifying a structural model with latent variables
- Model fit indices and their interpretation (χ²/df, CFI, TLI, RMSEA, SRMR)
- Improving a model with modification indices — and the limits of doing so
- Testing mediation effects with bootstrapping
- Reporting tables, figures and text in APA format

Who Is It For?
Master’s and doctoral students writing a thesis
Researchers aiming to publish in international journals
Statistics users moving from regression to SEM
Subject specialists who need to build a measurement model
Prerequisite: Basic statistical knowledge (at the level of correlation and regression). No AMOS experience required.
