Scale Development and Adaptation Analysis
From item pool to measurement invariance
We run the full psychometric chain: item pool construction, EFA and CFA, reliability and validity analyses, cross-cultural adaptation and measurement invariance.
Scale studies attract more criticism in review than almost any other article type, and most rejections come not from an analytical error but from a process that was incompletely designed.
\nWe separate the samples used for exploratory and confirmatory analysis, because running CFA on the sample that produced the factor structure asks the same data the same question twice. We report composite reliability alongside alpha, since alpha assumes equal loadings and uncorrelated errors, and we use HTMT for discriminant validity because it detects problems that Fornell–Larcker misses.
\nFor adaptation work we run the full translation chain and test invariance across the groups you intend to compare.
The Analytical Chain
Structure
Item analysis, EFA on one sample and CFA on another, with the split stated in the method.
Reliability and validity
Internal consistency, composite reliability (omega), AVE and HTMT.
Invariance
Configural, metric and scalar invariance for every comparison you plan to make.
How the Process Works
- Initial assessmentYou share your research question, your dataset and your target journal. Together we decide which analysis is appropriate.
- Proposal and planScope, timeline and fee are agreed, and what you will receive is set out in writing.
- AnalysisAssumption checks, model specification and estimation, with interim findings shared with you.
- Delivery and handoverAPA-format tables, a written interpretation and a handover conversation. We do not request authorship for standard analysis work.
