Scale studies attract more criticism in peer review than almost any other article type. Most rejections come not from an analytical error but from a process that was incompletely designed. This course covers the whole chain, from theoretical framework to measurement invariance.
Course Content
- Theoretical framework and defining the construct to be measured
- Building an item pool and principles of item writing
- Expert review and content validity ratios
- Pilot administration and item analysis
- Exploratory factor analysis (EFA)
- Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA)
- Reliability: internal consistency, test–retest, composite reliability
- Convergent and discriminant validity (AVE, HTMT)
- The adaptation process: translation–back-translation and cultural equivalence
- Measurement invariance (configural, metric, scalar)
- Publication-ready reporting and preparing for reviewers’ questions
